Hugards New Company.
On Thursday Aug 19th a treat is in store for Huntly theatregoers. Hugard, The Man With the Wonderful Hands and his new company of singers, musicians, comedians and conjurors, will make their appearance at the Miners Hall. It is some two years since Hugard appeared here and on that occasion the impression left was so distinctly favourable that it is safe to anticipate a big house for him on this visit. Since last here Hugard has secured all new illusions and magical surprises also several new artists. As a card manipulator he has no equal. He has been well termed “the man with the wonderful hands ” and as he says there are
feats which his facile hands perform that he cannot see the movement himself. In presenting Ching Sing Loo’s Night in a Chinese Palace the management are putting forward the biggest and most gorgeous act of its kind that has ever toured the Dominion. This great Chinese act is a marvellous succession of beautiful and starling transformations and miraculous appearances and disappearances. Ching’s latest invention is the Sword Levitation. In this, one of his lady assistants is suspended on the points of three swords. Two of the swords are removed leaving her suspended on the remaining one. Sliq, is then lowered until the sword passes completely through her body. She is again raised the sword removed and she is suspended in mid-air without any support whatever. This is a marvellous conception and must be seen to be believed. Other illusions in Ching’s repertoire include Fdags of Our Allies, Flight of Time, Human Volcano, Reincarnation of Phoenix, etc. Supporting these two wonderful performers are several artists new to Huntly and include Miss Myra Errington who is responsible for a really fine musical act. She plays latest cathing and patriotic music on different kinds of instruments including the largest xylophones in Australasia.. Miss Millie Clare is a charming comedienne wi + h an original manner of delivering her songs. She has made herself a great favourite through N.Z. and her latest success is Counting the Kaiser Out in which the audience help her to count Kaiser Bill out. Another original act to be presented is that of Clivalli and Dog Sport. They are jugglers, balancers, and tricksters and present a novel and clever act. Prices are 3/- and 2/-. 3/seats may be reserved at McNees for 6d. extra.
