While it is our endeavour to give correspondents every facility for the free expression of their opinion, it should be borne in mind that the views expressed do not, necessarily, reflect the opinions of the Editor.

TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, —In your issue of the 16th July, I noticed a letter written by Mr Tapp, who considered I was uninterested in the meeting hold in the Waikokowai School on the 19tli June. Mr Tapp . evidently orgot that it was a meeting of householders, and as I have children attending the the school. I consider it was my duty to attend, and voice my opinion through the ch air, which I did, not being called to order on any occasion. According to his letter he lias taken exception to my motion re Mr Jamieson re-considering his intention of resigning his position as local manager. I still adhere to my opinion, that Mr Jamieson has carried out his duties in a fearless and straight-forward manner, and that his position would be hard to fill; my remarks being endorsed by all save Mr Tapp, who would not vote on the motion. It may be that it was not my remarks about Mr Jamieson that aroused Mr Tapp’s ira, but my objections to his brother, an ex policeman, who was staying with Mr Tapp at the time taking notes, when we had already appointed an official recorder of the minutes. Again, lie does not tell you that one householder in the same position as, myself, talked to him in a very straight man :er, saying til ad lie, Mr Tapp, did not want to see other children receiving any benefits from the funds acCi jmulated from the rent of the o,!d school building. This met with great applause. It seems a pity that Mr Tapp has caused this unpleasantness, as we are, on the whole, a very happy family. Trusting some abler pen than mine will take the matter up. Thanking you in anticipation for tho valuable space in your paper. Ism, etc. F. M. LEEK.
