District News.
WAIKOKOWAI. Own Correspondent. Mrs Rasmussen returned home last Friday and looks much better after her few months holiday spent with her daughter at Taupaki. Arbor Day was held at the School on Monday when fortynine shrubs and trees were planted. The thanks of the district are due to Mr Jamieson who took as usual, the most prominent part, as he always does when there is anything to be done to the school ground, spending the whole day assisting in the planting, and then returning on Tuesday morning to put in the remainder of the trees. Church was well attended last Sunday when the Rev. Richards preached a stirring and instructive sermon on “ Failure. ” Mr Chris. Bailey visited the district last Tuesday and spent a couple of hours shooting over Mr Leek’s property, nagging a brace of fine cock pheasants. The roads are in a very heavy condition, and settlers here find it difficult to do much carting. Master W. Black is oil an extended holiday at Mr Jamieson’s Master Cecil Tapp returned to school last Monday, after being absent with a broken collar bone.
