N.Z. Volunteer Sisters.

In Christchurch there has just been formed a Sisterhood, to he known as the N.Z. Volunteer Sisters.

The object is, to organise a body of women who are willing to give up one year of their lives to go abroad and attend to the sick and wounded near the battle front.

No woman under thirty years of age will be accepted unless she is a trained nprse, and no woman is eligible to join the Sisterhood unless she has been passed as physically and organically sound by the medical advisers of the organisation. The sisters (or nurses as they are to be called) are to receive 10s per week and found, and will be reuqired to serve wherever they are appointed. Apparently the sisterhood has already received some official recognition, and arrangements are now being made for the Health department to take over the management, of affairs. The officers of the sisterhood at present are : Honorary Medical Adviser, Mr Raymond (Crown Prosecuter at Christchurch.) Honorary Medical Advisers, Drs Guthrie (Christchurch) and Mason (Wellington.) Honorary Foreign Medical Adviser, Dr Jessie Scott (who leaves to-morrow for Serbia.) Secretary, Miss E. A. Rout (Christchurch.)

We would be pleased to allow any interested to peruse the pamphlet from which we obtained the above information.
