Sick and Wounded Fund.
The work of the Ladies Committee is going steady on. The house to house canvass has been responded to liberally. On Tuesday evening the Schoolgirls Social in the Masonic Hall was a great success and will add about £5 to the fund. Musical items, recitation, songs etc., were given by the following:— Misses Ethel Jolley, Annie Beardsmore, Sybil Leather, Alice Allen, Eva Allen, Ethel Fairhurst, Ruth Skellern," Doris Jolley, Jennie Gavan, Tui Sheeran, Daphne Sheeran, Hazel Ralph, and Ivy Peckham. Masters Harry Fraser, Harry Allen, Roy Matthews, and Tom Nash. j A one act play by Misses Kathleen Porter, Grace Berry,, and Myra Fraser was a great success. The prize winners for Musical Chairs were : Girls, Alice Allen, Lome Clinch, Eveline Greenwell, Eileen Wborskey, and Doris Jolly. Boys, Harry Fraser, The committee is holding a social in the Miner’s Hall on Monday next, July 19th. Musiccal items and dancing. Tickets 1/-. On August 4, the anniversary of the day war was declared, a Patriotic Concert is to be held. A special programme is being prepared for this.
