Electric Lighting Scheme.
Mr E. J. Fenn, Consulting Electrical Engineer to the Huntl y Town Board, was in Huntly on Monday and Tuesday last, in company with a% official of the Telegraph Dept.,*to go into the matter of the necessary in the Telegraph Lines to enable the electric wires to be carried to the various parts of the Town.
Mr Fenn is busy on the plans and specifications now, and the actual work will be put in hand at an early date. The war will probably have the effect of delaying the completion of the scheme a little, owing to the difficulty of obtaining certain supplies, but it is anticipated that the opening ceremony should take place in about eight months from now.
Those erecting houses now would do well to make provision for the installation of the Light, and thus save expense at a later date. It is intended to instal the light in the new Bank building, and we understand that the Railway Dept., intend to light the Station and yard as soon as the works are going.
