WAIKOKOWAI. Own Correspondent. Mr Jamieson returned home on Saturday after a flying visit to Auckland on school business. Mr and Mrs Molesworth and family are spending the winter months in Huntly, tins making a vast difference to the average attendance at our school. The Telegraph Engineer from Hamilton met the settlers at Mrs Mount’s house on Tuesday to discuss the erection of a telephone to Rotongaro. The erection of the line is to be commenced in about a fortnight. Mr Briggs left here yesterday to motor-cycle through to Auckland.
While two boys were riding home from school on Wednesday, one cf them got his foot caught in the stirrup when he was mounting. The horse started to move on, with the result that the lad lost his balance, and but for the presence of mind of the other boy jumping off his horse and catching the animal, the consequences might have been serious.
Feathered game seems to be rather scarce since the opening of the season.
