Hospital Fund
We hear, that as soon as the collection for the Belgians is completed, the ladies of Huntly intend to turn their attention to the task of raising funds for the equipment of Hospitals and provision of comforts for our wounded soldiers. The object is most laudable and merits the hearty support of all. No doubt, some, who have given liberally to the Belgian and other Funds, will feel the strain when called upon again so soon, but, as we have pointed out before, if we are to be true to ourselves and to the traditions of our nation, we must bo prepared to sacrifice ourselves and our private interests, and to stand up manfully under the great strains that are placed upon us. As all, what is the sacrifice of some pleasure or a personal comfort compared with the sacrifices made by our soldiers, who bear tremendous hardships, sickness and wounds without a murmur, and in many cases lose their lives in defence of us. who are forced to stay at home. After this war is to be a long one, and as much help will lie needed from us who stay at home, it would be a good plan for all to put by a certain sum each week, whether collections were being taken up or not. Then, when the call cams, each would bo ready to d > bis share at once, and often a prompt response is worth much more than a tardy
