Auckland Patriotic League.

LADIES’ COMMITTEE. The Chairman, Huntly Town Board. Dear sir,— Her Excellency, the Countess of Liverpool, is appealing for two pairs of new socks to send to every member of the Expeditionary force who has already left New Zealand. The Ladies' Committee of the Auckland Patriotic League wishes to help Her Excellency by providing the 6,000 pairs of socks needed for the men of the Auckland Provincial District, now in Egypt. The Mayoress of Auckland is making a direct appeal for 6,000 pairs. Will you help in this work of collecting socks for your own boys ? It was suggested that you be asked to appoint a committee in your district, and we hope that many socks will reach the Town Hall, Auckland, by May 3rd, " Sock Monday,” as a result of your interest and assistance. Money will be very welcome from 1h sj who cannot knit, 3s will buy two pairs of socks of very good quality, as the committee has special facilities for purchasing same. Hoping for a ready response to this request, and thanking you in advance for your co-opera-tion. 1 am, sincerely, Rosetta Baume. Hon. Sec. Ladies’ Committee, Auckland Patriotic League.

(All those who are willing to assist in this worthy movement are asked to send their names to the Town Board Office. Socks or money will be gladly received and forwarded oil. As time is short, people are asked to bestir themselves, so that Huntly may not be left in the ruck.)
