Taupiri News.

Our tennis club has played several matches during the past few months. Buckland team payed us a return visit and we were successful in winning the contest. However our team had to succumb to the Frankton players who visited us a few weeks

ago. The final match of the season will probably be played against Huntly on Saturday, 24th April.

T'e Taupiri Football Club is looking forward to a successful season, although, owing to the absence of mt ny players at the territorial camp, practice has not yet commenced. The Taupiri Progressive Association is continuing its good work and is pressing the matter of improvements in the facilities for handling stock at the railway station. At present these are totally inadequate for the needs of this growing district. Another matter is the un-gent necessity that at least one express train daily -should stop at Taupiri. The present antiquated ordinary passenger service from such station as ours is a disgrace to the railway.

Mr F. Roberts who has bean settled in this district for some years has sold his farm and is proceeding to Ruatangata, near Whangarei. Mr Roberts and family will be much missed in the district and carry with them the best wishes of the settlers.
