WAIKOKOWAI. (Own Correspondent The school received a visit from the Inspector this week. The rain which lias fallen so copiously since Regatta Day has done a great deal of good and also a little harm. Some of the settlers had quite an exciting time getting their cattle on to the dry land during the flood. The water comes down so fast that cattle are unable to face it without help. Mr Broughton suffered considerable loss this week by the death of a horse worth over £4O. Mr Nuttall, who has been paying a flying visit to his farm, returned home to Greyraouth this week.
