Miners’ Union.
A meeting of the Huntly Miners’ Union was held in the Miners’ Hall on Thursday, the 4th of March, at 7.30 p.m. Mr C. S. Morris presiding. The minutes of the previous meeting being read and confirmed, the correspondence was received and dealt with. It was announced that the supplementary agreement with the Taupiri Coal Mines, Ltd., was now being fulfilled, with the exception of the three lights per pair of men, which was expected would be supplied shortly. It was intimated to the meeting that the extra twopence per ton on the hewing rates, as from the date of the explosion would be payable this week. The check inspector’s reports were received and considered satisfactory. An addition to the existing supply of ambulance material has been made by the Company.
