RUAWARO. (Own Correspondent.) The young people are looking forward to Saturday, Mr Broughton having arranged a Tennis tournament on their behalf on that day. The “Farmer’s Union” is protesting against the “ Waikato River Board ” rating several in the district. Mr Whitehorn, Messrs Dalgety and Co. Ltd., stock agent has been very active in the district of late, and has put through a good deal of business. It is expected that Troopers
Furniss and Fletcher, who are at present in training at Trentham, will be leaving for Egypt in about a fortnignt. The erection of a telephone is to come up for discussion at the next meeting of the Farmers’ Union.
We understand that Mr Claude Champion, who was well known i.n the district, has joined the “ City of London” Rough Riders, for active service in the continent.
Mr Percy Court, who left here about 2 years ago to manage a place up north, has thrown up his job and gone into training at Trentham. prior to going to Europe. He was very popular and all will wish him God-speed.
