Lyceum Pictures

MINERS’ HALL. A great comedy story feature entitled, “ Asta Nielson up to her Tricks ” is being shown by the Lyceum Management this evening. It is considered the biggest comedy success ever presented and is over 3600 feet long featuring that popular film actress, Miss Asta Nielsen. In addition a versatile selection of the latest and best photoplays balance a programme of great merit chief amongst which are ‘ Sheltering an Ingrate” which features spectacular scenes in a large hippodrome such as roping in bucking bronchos and characteristic.. cowboy races, etc., etc. In addition to the pictorial bill of fare Miss Bartle will sing that popular song “Island of Dreams” thus topping off an excellent entertainment. For this Saturday and Monday Mr Calder wishes to announce he will show Jury’s great spectacular masterpiece “ The Last Days of Pompeii.” This film which is over 7000 feet long is the latest and version of Lord Lytton's immortal Roman Tragedy and has never before been shown in Huntly. It should not be confounded with any other production of the same name. This magnificent reproduction of the old Roman atmosphere was acted and filmed amid the actual ruins of Pompeii. The great circle ensemble shows 59 Gladiators, and 15 Lions, whilst the eruption of Vesuvius is an enthralling spectacle being most impressive in its realism. The film also portrays Roman life in all its splendour and voluptuous extravagance at the period when the shadow of desstruction was hanging over Pompeii. Beautiful orchestral music will be a feature of the production. Box plan for Dress circle is at McNee’s where seats should be booked to save disappointment in order to see this master production.
