Accidents

Thomas Lillis who was working in a cutting near Pukemiro met with an accident on Monday, falling between a horse and truck which passed over him causing severe bruises on the body. The man was sent to the Hamilton Hospital.

Mr G. Miller met with a nasty accident while working in the Extended Mine on Friday last. A piece of coal striking him on the eye.. It is not quite certain whether he will lose the sight of the the damaged organ or not. Mr Miller proceeded to Auckland on Monday evening for further consultation.

Mr Joseph Tenant, miner, employed in the Extended Mine had the misfortune to meet with a serious accident on Thursday afternoon, sustaining a badly lacerated leg. The man was sent to the Hamilton Hospital by the Main Trunk Express.

Another serious accident occurred in the Extended mine on Thursday afternoon. A trucker named Ewd. Webb was knocked over by a rake of skips which had broken away while proceeding up au incline. One the victim’s legs was broken below the knee while bis other leg was severely injured. His head, too, was badly lacerated, and some of his ribs wore broken- The sufferer, after being attended to by Dr Low, was conveyed to the Hamilton Hospital by the 1 ite train that, evening.
