Strayed.
The long list of cattle and horses which have been killed on the railway line was added to on Tuesday morning, when two of Green and Colebrook’s horses were killed by the morning express from Wellington. The horses were as usual paddocked next to the Tennis Courts on Monday evening when all appeared safe. During the night a turnstile which has been erected for the convenience of people passing through was destroyed and the horses got out on to the road. They then strayed on to the railway line near the Anglican Church, and were chased along by the express until they reached the Hakanoa St. Crossing, where they were caught bv the train and both killed. Tlie horses were two of the best owned by Green and Colebrook, and represent a considerable money loss.
