Huntly Mines Disaster Relief Committee.

A meeting of the above committee was held in the Town Board office last evening, there being present:—Mr J. P. Bailey (Chairman), Revs. J, L. A. Kayll, J. Richards, and M. J. Evans, Messrs R. Greenwell G. T. Horwood, E. J. Farrell, H. R. Porter, J. Wes'ey, W. Warren, J. Mailing, W. Leather, F. Knapper, J. Hooker, R. F. Bollard, M.P. and the secretary. An apology for absence was received from Father O’Doherty, the minutes of the last meeting being read and confirmed and a financial statement made. A letter was read from Mr L. M. A Reardon, agreeing on behalf of the Wtllington Committee to hand over ' the balance of money in their hands in terms i lie relation passed at the last meeting of the Huntly Com- * mittee. The Committee then proceeded to discuss the torms on which the money would be handed over to the Public Trus-

i tee. Various motions, were proposed and the points to be safeguarded were noted, and eventually the following resolution was carried “That the Fund be handed over to the Public Trustee on condition that it is administered on the same basis as now, with the provisor that the Public Trustee may vary the payments after taking into consideration the position of each beneficiary as regards property and income.” An amendment proposed by the Rev M. J. Evans, and seconded by Mr W. Leather “ That £SOO be the limit of compensation considered by the Public Trustee as property was lost. The secretary was instructed to approach the Public Trustee as soon as possible with a view to an early settlement.
