Post Office Holidays.
CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR, 1914-15. Fridays, the 25th December, and Ist January, Christmas and New Year’s Day, will be observed as close holidays. On Saturday, 26th December, Boxing Day, all telegraph and post offices are to he open from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in all branches excepting money order and saving bank. On the evening of Thursday, the 24th and 31st December, a counter delivery of letters will be made between 7 and 8 p.m. Mails usually despatched on Fridays, the 25th December, and Ist January, also Saturday, 26th December, will all be closed at 9.30 a.m. A delivery will be made by letter carrier on the afternoon of the 24th and 31st inst. On the 26th inst., one complete delivery will be made, carrier to leave post office not later than 8 a.m. The Telephone Exchange will be closed on 25th and 26th insts., and January Ist. The Public are requested to assist the department by posting correspondence and printed matter, and by sending telegraphic greetings as many days before Christmas Day as possible.
