Mr T. Smith, Huntly’s letter -■who is about to bid fare well to his bachelor state, wa: entertained by his friends at ; smoke concert held in the Miners Hall last evening. About fort' were present, and Mr A. E Mathews presided. A very pleasant evening wai spent, instrumental and voca items being rendered by llit Huntly Orchestra, and MessrJolley, Green, Broadbent, Ash 3t o ft, Me Lic T 1 an, Pa t e rso n, an d Holland, and a step-danee by Mi 3 as. Roberts. Every i‘vm was well rendered and received witl vociferous appL.usu and in inj encores. Mr Farrimond accom panied to - singers. Af toast <>f " The Kmg ’ the Chairman in suitable terms moved “ Our Guest ” and at the same time presented Mr Sinitl with a handsome set of carvers subscribed for by the members >f the Huntly Orchestra and the Post Office and Railway Staffs Mr Smith very feelingly responded, thaking thos3 present for the gift and for llie gooc wishes so ably expressed by tlu chairman. The response to “ The Ladies” was in the able anc and willing hands of Messrs Dent and MeCalman, and was lone- full justice to.
