Benefit Concert.

A very successful benefit con cert was given to Mrs Berry on Wenesday night at tht Miners’ Hall which will realize quite a respectable total. An energetic committee had all arrangements well in hand, and the various items in the programme were much appreciated. The first half consisted of a nice 'selection of pictures projected by Mr G. Calder, which left nothing to be desired. The second half opened with a musical selection by the Huntly Orchestra, “ Wiliam Tell,” which was well received. The Huntly Pierrots under the capable direction of Mr Jack Budge gave the Heart Full of Love'” and as an encore, “ In the Good Old Summer Time.” Miss Stevenson sang in very pleasing style, The Spring Song, while Messrs Batiersley and Robertson gave the old favourite “ Larboard Watch.” -Mr George Morgan was in great demand with his comic items, “Cock-a-doodle-do,” and “ I’d rather Have a Hard Boiled Egg.” Mr Gurney (Mercer) song, that most popular song It’s a Long Way to Tipperary,” with great effect. Miss Bartley sang “Sylvia” and ' 1 Priseella ” in very fine style. Miss Vera Russel assisted by the Pierrots gave, ‘Wasn’t Born With a Spoon in My Mouth,” while Messrs Patterson and McLacklan pleased the audience with their violin duet. A recitation by Miss Grat e Berry entitled, John Bull can you wonder at Crime ” was very nicely given, and Master Scott amused the audience with his rendering of “ I’m not Particular’ A beautiful . selection by the Huntly Orchestra brought the entertainment to a conclusion. The music throughout, the evening was supplied by the Huntly Orchestra—Mrs Stevenson and Mr H. Farrimond was well rendered and much appreciated. Mr J. Badge announced that during the evening Mr L. B. Harris had very kindly sent along a cheque for £5 to help tile Benefit, A dance followed to which a fail number remained and enjoyed them-
