Huntly Magistrate’s Court

SATURDAY. Messrs. W. R. Leather and E. J. Farrell J’s P., Presiding. Stewart Dixon was charged that on or about the 6th day of October, 1914, at Huntly. he did receive from William Emery, of Huntly, Secretary of the Taupir Coal Mines Workers Industria Union, the sum of £45 Is 6d with a direction that such money should be paid to the secretary of a committee of persons known as the Relief Committee, and that in violation of good faith and contrary to such direction he did fraudulently convert the said sum of money to his own use, the same being an indictable offence. Mr. Northoroft, who appeared for the accused, asked that the case he adjourned until Friday, 27th. inst., in order that it might be heard by Mr. E. Rawson, S.M. Mr. Gould, representing the union, offered no objection to the request, but thought bail should be fixed. Mr. Northcroft, in objecting, stated that his client had appeared on surmnons ; that he had not been arrested; and that there was no likelihood of him absconding. Mr Gould withdrew the application and an adjournment to the ■ date mentioned was granted.
