Re=Opening of the Mines.

It is stated on good authority that the “ permitted ” explosives secured in Australia by the Taupiri Company have been despatched from Newcastle for Auckland by steamer which should reach the latter port in time to admit of the re-opening of the mines at the beginning of next, week. The quantity secured, some 200 cases, should be sufficient for two months with the mines working full time. By the end of the year tiiere should arrive the consignment which the company had cabled to England for immediately after the disaster. Owing to the shipping conditions brought about by the war the date of the arrival of the consignment from England is uncertain. Wit its arrival there should be no obstacle to the continuance of working the Company’s properties.
