TAUPIRI. The opening of the Tennis Club took place on day afternoon, October 3rd. when a pleasant time was spent by all present. The courts were in excellent order, and the Secretary 7 . Mr F. Graham, with the Captain, Mr T. Hill, kept them fully occupied. Some good sets were played, good form being shown by many of the players. Your Huntly Club will undoubtedly miss the services of the Rev. J. Me William, who was in excellent form. The ladies of the club and their friends provided the indispensable afternoon tea. The Patriotic concert held on Tuesday evening, October Gth, was a great success. The Hall was well packed and this, together with the sale of tickets, will add a good sum to the fund. Mr T. Simpson, of Hamilton, organised the progamme and was ably assisted -by Mesdames Watson and West, Messrs. N. Fort, Jordan and S. Webster. The local organisers, Mrs A. H. Waring in particular, are to be congratulated on the successful carrying out of the arrangements. Dairying is now in full swing among the settlers, but the continual dry spell is having a most detriments! effect on the feed. A sum of £2 his been donated by the Taupiri School Children in aid of the Huntly Disaster Fund and part of the collection at Christ Church on Sunday 4th will be given to the same deservingobject I believe it is the intention to get up some kind of entertainment to further augment the funds.
