BLASTING TO CEASE. As a result of: the statements made by Mr F. Reed, Inspecting Engineer of Mines, in, Ids examination by Mr TimkMat the enquiry, the following notice has been posted at the pit-bead by the manager of the Extended Mine, Mr W. Wood:— “In terms of Special Rule 48, blasting is strictly prohibited in the Extended mine until further orders. This notice is given in consequence of the statements made by Mr Frank Reed, the inspecting engineer for the Mines Department, before the commission to-day, that monobel is a dangerous explosive, and that the use of it is risking the lives of the company’s employees. ”
