Mr J. H. Niocoils, an old and esteemed resident,of tills district, was in Huntly dufitis? the: week. Miss E. E. Young, who has been app tinted temporary fourth assistant at the district school, commenced her duties on Tuesday afternoon. Tlie Rev. Father Edge left yesterday for Auckland where he will preach the sermon during the service to be held in St. Patrick’s Cathedral to-day in cumulation with the death of Pope Pius X. The patriotic committee lias been strengthened by the inclusion of the following representatives of the outlying .districts: W. D. Thompson, Te Hoe ; Messrs A. Jamieson and A. McKinnon, Pukemiro, and MiFrank Storey, Matainirn.
