DRAFFIN CUP MATCH. Tiie match for the Draffin Cup as played at Huntly.-.on Saturday between the representatives of Huntly and Taupiri proved a somewhat une-sided.. game. At first : Huntly, which placed a weak team in the field, played with such dash and vigour that they had decided y the better of their opponents ; but before the spell closed lack of' condition began to tell its tale, and Taupiri had matters pretty well their own way. With the aid of the referee, the. visitors started a score that kept mounting. Taupiri was certainly the better team of the two, showing greater combination, .and s > excelling in passing'that they fully deserved the win tha.t gave them the cup. The game was not at all spectacular, the interchange of long kicks .proving somewhat morot inmis and disappointing to spectator's who expected a stiff and exciting contest instead of the poor exhib’tion to which they were treated. Of course, the game had its redeeming features, and a few excel lent, 'and sometimes brilliant passing runs were initiated that mostly came to an « end 1 near the line. Had Huntly followed up as they ought, the score against thorn would not have been so large as it turned out, hut lack of following up —had fault as it is^—was preferable to the objectionable tactics of one of the Taupiri players who consistently blocked any opponent a per aching him who for the time had the hall. The decisions of the referee d.iff.l gj vp general satisfaction,” one try, at least, 1 beinjg a warded to the wrong side. Though decided 1 v beaten, Huntly rail tied again and again towards ■ the end of the game, hut un- > suco’essfully, the Taupiri defence feeing too solid, and their attack equally vigorous.
