Opening of the Ohinewai Hall.

GRAND SOCIAL. The new hall at Ohinewai was opened on Wednesday night with a most successful and enjoyable social, so numerous was the attendance that the utmost difficulty was experienced in gaining an entrance. People were present from al! parts of the Waikato, some arriving by motorcar and launch, and others by the train and in vehicles of all kinds. The hall, finely decorated with ferns, greenery, and bunting of all colours, presented a fine sight; the decorations as well as the other arrangements reflecting the utmost credit on the committee, the members of which did all that could possibly be done to promote the amusement and the enjoyment of the guests who highly appreciated and gratefully acknowledged the attentions received. In a neat speech Mr Welch accorded all present a hearty welcome, and thanked them for their attendance, stating that die function of that evening was the first of a scries of similar gatherings that would be held on frequent occasions In the intervals between the dances Messrs S. Pbair sang “ Queen of the Earth Mr J. Haig, “ Ever of Thee,” and Mr W. Darby, " Davy Jones’ Locker,” all the vocal items being most cordially applauded. With excellent music supplied by Mr and Mrs W. Darby (Mr A. Gall playing for the extras), a floor in Hue condition, and a nice supper purveyed by the committee, all the factors for success were assured. Messrs C. Gall, R. Muir and Glass proved efficient M’s.C., and were most attentive to their duties. The most satisfactory item to the committee is the takings, and when it is stated that these totalled over £25 the all l-ound triumh is apparent.
