ADDRESS BY MR J. FURNISS. Mr J. Furniss addressed a meeting of some 70 Huntly electors in the Miners’ Hall on Wednesday night, the chair being occupied by Mr W. Leather who introduced (he speaker as a prospective can idate for the Raglan Elec rate. Mr Furniss stated that he was fully cognisant of currant politics, and had closely fo 1 nved the various questions that had for many years agitated the minds of Old Country aul Now Zealand statesmen. He condemned arbitration, staling that at the present time, an 1 under existing conditions, nma were deprived of the right to speak their minds. He disapproved of capitalism, and was opposed, to the freehold tenure, in answer to questions Mr Furniss stated that while he had no ticket or platform, he would follow neither Mr Massey nor Sir Joseph Ward, but would do liis utmost to promote the interests of the workers.
