It is with sincere sorrow and sympathy that the death of Miami Mrs Rosser’s infant is recorded. The three men who spent part of Thursday in the lockup will be tried to-day. The usual meeting of the Weekly Quadrille Assembly will bake place on Monday evening. A meeting of householders for the election of a school committee will be held in the District School on the evening of Monday, 20 th July, at 7 p.m. “In the meantime',” says the letter of the Board of Education, “ the committee elected last year will continue to hold office until the appointment of their successors.” On Monday the first locomotive crossed the new bridge, and on Tuesday it was employed in taking coal and other material across the river to the j point where such were required. The employment of this locomotive will greatly facilitate the work of railway construction, and will lead to much economy of time and labour. Under the baton of Mr D 1 Wentworth, the Brass Band wil play a series of selections on Saturday night at 7. p.m. at the railway gates, and on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. on the west side of the river. The appearance of the band will naturally depend on favourable weather conditions. At a meeting of the trustees of the Huntly School of Mines held on Tuesday evening, Mr J. Fletcher presiding, it was decided that the erection of the school should be carried out according to the original specifications, and that any structural alterations that might be deemed necessary could be considered when the builder, Mr J. T. Benson, had completed his contract. The following is a list of minor accidents that have occurred at the Taupiri Minos during the week: - Messrs Tlios.
