School Committee.
SPECIAL MEETING. A special meeting of the Huntly School Committee was held on Saturday evening when • there were present Mesdames Elliot and Harris, Messrs. J. Carylon, J. Elliot (chairman), H. R. Porter, E. W. Ruston, C. Starr, and the secretary, Mr J. Gardner. The business was the consideration of a protest sent by Mr J. Me. Nee to the Board of Education pointing out alleged informalities that had occurred at the annual meeting of house-holders with a view to rendering the election of the committee null and void. The various sentences of the protest were discussed seriatim, several assertions made by the writer being challenged as inaccurate, misleading, and not in accordance with fact. The Chairman was asked to draft a reply which,'when formulated, was approved and ordered to be forwarded to the Board, the committee, as elected, adding in conclusion that they courted an enquiry, and were prepared to substantiate every statement made in rebuttal of Mr Me. Nee’s assertions.
