The Calderwood Presentation.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The committee appointed in connection the presentation to Mr D. Calderwood met on Monday evening when Mr T. Black, in the unavoidable absence of Mr J. P. Bailey, presided. The secretary (Mr W. Burt) intimated that the residents iiad heartily responded to, the a open! f>f subscriptions, the sun ~ nine pounds having been already donated. It was decided to procure for the Champion an inlaid draughts table with a suitable inscription, and to mak the presentation at a smoke concert to be held in the King’s Hall on the evening of Wednesday. Jme 10th. Mr J. P. Bai y will present the gift and c ngratuL-t? the recipient on his well merited honour. A capital musical programme is being arranged, so that a good attendance is all that is wanted to make the function a success. Tickets for the concert can be procured from the Secretary or from any member of the committee, early application for the same being necessary to secure a seat. -
