Huntly Road Board.
The Huntly Road Boa-, 1. held its monthly meeting on Saturday last when there were present Messrs J. P. Bailey, W. F. Parker, Thos Hill and L. B. Harris, junr. The clerk took the chair and called for nominations' for the office of chairman for the current year', and Mr J. P. Bailey’s being the only nomination, he was declared duly elected. On taking his seat Mr Bailey returned his thanks for the honour conferred, and expressed the hope that the meetings of the Board in future be of the same amicable nature as in the past. A. letter was received from the Prime Minister saying that the Board’s protest against the reducing of Kim:bia Station had been received and had been forwarded to the Minister cf Railways for liis consideration. Mr Foster again wrote, protesting against the delay in opening up the road from the Qhijnewai railway station to the river. As the property owner concern, 1 showed no inclination to carry out the; Board’s wishes with regard to opening up the road, it was resolved that the Board undertake to open the road forthwith. A.list of grants needed from Government was made up and directed to be. sent on to tiie District Engineer of Roads at Auckland. Owing to his absence from the district, it was resolved to relieve Mr W. Singer of his duties as Poundkeeper, and to appoint Mr C. Starr in his place, Accounts amounting to £493 0/ sc! on the General Account, and £6B 13 7d on the Loan Account, were passed f<inpayment.
