Sports Committee.

A meeting pf the Huntly Sports Commit tbe was held in the King’s Hail on Wednesday night, Mr Jas. Elliot presiding. Atter the confirmation of the minutes of the previous meeting the secretary (Mr S. Dixofi) presented Ihe balance sheet in connection with the recent sports meeting. It showed a clear profit of almost £3O, and, being considered highly satisfactory, was adopted as read, the accounts having been duly audited by Messrs J. Robertson and C. Starr. The meeting instructed the secretary to pay over to the Brass Band one-tliird of the net profits, and to place the balance in the Post Office Saving; Bank as the nucleus of a sports fund. It wis decided to form an Athletic Club the objects of which would be the promotion of athletics and the securing of a ground of area sufficient to subserve cricket, football, tennis, foot-racing and other purposes, a public meeting for the purpose to be held oh Wednesday, 13th May. A request for assistance received from the committee of the Kennel and Poultry Club was regretfully declined on the ground that by tbe minutes of the first meeting the proceeds of the sports having been ear-marked for specific purposes the committee had nr power to deal with the same. Individually, the members expressed their sympathy with the club, and prom ised to do all they could to make the second annual dog and poultry show a success. In order to raise funds for future sports meetings the secretary outlined a scheme of entertainments for the winter months, and was empowered to apply to the Minister of Internal Affairs for a permit to hold an Art Union to be drawn in August. The former matter was deferred until next meeting. A vote of thanks to the chairman, and to. the secretaries and treasji\^ r brought the meeting t V‘acTo;e.
