Huntly Hibernians.

The usuaTfortnightly meeting of the St Anthony Hibernians was held last Tuesday evening, when the President, Bro W. Darby, presided over a fair attendance of members. After roll call, correspondence from the District Secretary was received and dealt with, while one account was passed for payment. The President, in the course of his remarks, said that he was sorry to notice that one or two officers of the Soeiety had bean unavoidably absent from some of the meetings cf late, but hoped to see them present in strong force next lodge night, when some very important business would be transacted, and it was essential that every member should attend. Bros. McLeod, Woiward and Farrell endorsed the speaker’s remarks. The meeting, on account of the inconvenience experienced through the absei.ee of lamps in the school room, decided to buy a couple of hanging lamps from the Ng'ruawahia parish so that they could be hung in the school room for the convenience of the Society and the parishioners, tiie Rev. Father Edge kindly offering to interview tiie Ngaruawabia people and ascertain the price of the lamps. The Hibernians also decided to have a large chest built, which will be left in the school room and use for t lie purpose of taring away the books' o il regalia of tie Branch. A pleasing feature of the evening was the remarks of the chaplain, Rev. Father Edge, who, in replying to one of tiie questions at issue, gave the members of the Lodge a very edifying and instructive address which was highly appreciated, the speaker being thankeJ heartily for his words. Four new members who were proposed for membership, wi lbe initiated next Lodge night.
