Huntly Town Board
The usual meeting of the Huntly Town Board was held on Thursday evening when there were present Messrs J. P. Bailey (chairman), li. Greenwell, G. T. Horwood, J. Elliot, and the clerk (Mr F. Harris). The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Letters were read from the . Clerk to the Prime Minister of requesting the Minister of Public Works to give his decision with regard t > the Eastern approach to the Huntly Bridge, and to the trustees of the Public Library -proposing to undertake the control of the library as soon as the Board acquired an area of land sufficiently * large to orect public upon, - such offices, when erected, . t) provide accommodation fora i reading room and library. The Ngaruawahia Chamber °f * Commerce solicited the co-opor-r at ion of the Board in the effort to i secure direct telephonic com- ‘ munication with Auckland for * towns between Pukekohe and r , Hamilton. The letter was ro--1 ceived. Mr E. J. Fenn wrote | offering to report on the sag- ' gested electric lighting scheme, J while Mr Chenery Suggato ad- ■ dressed the Board on the same : subject. The Taupiri Coal ; Mines Ltd. stated that the direci tors on the occasion of an early - visit would inspect the sites i available for an electric power 5 station. Accounts totalling £251 7s 9d were passed for payment.
