Huntly Parliamentary Debating Society.

At a meeting presided over by Mr J. Elliot on Wednesd iv night it was decided to form a society entitled as above, bath ladies and gentlemen being elegible as members, it was unanimously decided that tin* debates I»; <• mducted in the popular form of a Mock Parliament, and t • b i n this a meeting was arranged for Monday sth proxim •: Mr J. Carmody was appointed - vretary Although on account of tinmeeting having clashed with other local gatherings the attendance was not as large as expected, the project has never theless, met with a very la: share of the support that it deserves, and already the club has quite a large and enthusiastic membership of both sexes. Apart from the superior form of entertainment and amu-Timnt that societies of this nature afford during the winter months, their educational value cannot he to > highly rated.
