Picnic.
A party of Sunday x school teachers belonging to the Huntly Auxiliary S. S. Union v isit? lth? Helvetia Ostrich Farm at Pa?rata on Monday last. After lunch the party under th? guidance of the obliging manager, inspected the birds, the ages of which ranged from two weeks to several years. A flock of grown birds was penned, and the processes of hooding, of clipping the mature feathers, and of removing tlie old quills to allow new feathers to grow, were demonstrated fully. Thence the party proceeded t> the factory where feather goods in the shape of boas and trimmings were in evidence -much to the delight of the la li'\s whose admiration of the beautiful goods displayed was very great. With games and other means of amusement th? tin? pass'd rapidly, the party after tmi making their way to th ? station to await the train which was to carry them to their horn ‘s. The farm is quite an ideal plac > for a : it on rising ground from which many pretty views ci l be obtained, including a glimpse of tli? Manukau.
