AIR STRENGTH

JAPANESE AND SOVIET FORCES. LONDON, Dec. 28. The rapid growth of the Japanese and Russian air forces is emphasised in. this year’s edition of the World’s Aircraft, which gives the details of Japan’s current programme. Japan, it says, is at present constructing 200 aeroplanes, which will increase her 26 squadrons to 34 by the addition of four bombing and four fighting squadrons. Also 250 aeroplanes are under construction for the navy air service, which, within live years, will consist of 30 squadrons' compared with 19-1 now.

Russia’s air fleet has increased from 2052 machines in 1.927 to 2782 now.
