A REPRIEVE
FOR VIENNESE MURDERER. VIENNA, December 21. Two minutes before he \va s due to be executed for murder, Breitenweiser’s death sentence was commuted to life-long imprisonment. Breitemveiser was tried at a special court under the existing limited martial law. which requires execution within two hours of the passing of sentence.
He was granted an extra hour, however, to enable counsel to prepare a petition to the President, whose reprieve arrived by telephone as Breitenweiser was about to he led to the scaffold.
