UNUSUAL HEAT
FOR REMAINDER OF CENTURY. FORECAST BY 'SCIENTIST. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph- -Copyrigb t). NEW YORK, December 28. At Cambridge, Mr H. W. Clough, a New York scientist, speaking to the American Association of Science, predicted that the remainder of the twentieth century will be unusually warm and dry, with a period of cooler and wetter weather around the years 1950-55, followed by disastrous drougnts at the turn of the century. He based his predictions on th & fact that “four great weather cycles, controlled by- the sun, will synchronise around the year ,2000.” He said that, in time, the areas near the deserts are likely to suffer prolonged aridity, necessitating wholesale migration.
