CHURCH “SCANDAL”
EXPLANATION BY BISHOP
(United Press Association--By Electric Tel egraph—C opyri ght.) (Received 'this day at 1.35 p.m.) LONDON, December 23.
Lord -Cecil’s charge is connected with (Mr L. P. Jacks, whom the Dean of Liverpool asked to preach three noniliburelical services, with the Bishop’s approval.
Lord Cecil states the chapters -of the rural -deaneries of Bootle, Ormskirk and •Northmeols-passed resolutions of protest showing “the scandal caused ,in the diocese of Liverpool.” Replying to Lord .Cecil, the Bishop "explains that the principle on which lie acted, was based on Christ’s words : “TTe that is not with .ns -is against us.” “We are not-to exclude a man from fellowship and co-operation because he had not attained the full truth.’’ Evil temper and exclusiveness was destined to work much mischief in the church.
