DEATH OF TWO CHILDREN
TRAGEDY NEAR PALMERSON N,

PALMERSTON N.,, December 26. A double tragedy occurred at Kakariki on a railway bridge, where a train killed two children,. They were: Frances Mason , aged IP years, daughter of Mr T. Mason, of Kakariki; and Molly Camplin, aged four years dauglitera of Mr J. L. Camplin, of Waituna. The children were cousins. The bridge, like many other-"'short railway structures of this type, is urideeked. It is not used for pedestrian traffic of any kind. It is about 20 feet above a stream, , and the children had no hope of. escape with the train coming on them suddenly, unless they attempted to jump "to the ground below.
