BIG AIR RACE
MELBOURNE CENTENARY EVENT
FINAL CONDITIONS ANNOUNCED

MELBOURNE, December 21
The final conditions were announced for the centenary air race, which will be international in character, and is not limited to competitors of the Empire or machines of the Empire, and the first machine to cr°?e a white, line drawn across Flemington Racecourse collects a cheque for ten thousand pounds. The formula for the handicap race is designed to encourage commercial aviation. Success will depend on five main factors, namely, (one) the ability of the pilot *o get through ; Itwo) the speed -of the machine; (three) luck; (four) the weaker and other conditions; (five) the pay load. October 20, 1934 is the date of 'starting. A' deposit of fifty pounds for the, speed race,' and ten pounds for the handicap is required- It will be forfeited if any machine fails to reach Baghdad. Any machine fading to complete the course in . sixteen calendar days will be disqualifiedThere will be checking points .along the route. .
