Mr Roosevelt -to-day (broadened the power of the National Labour Board to ensure effective control .ovei" recalcitrant employers m N-R.A. disputes. The President, by executive order, conferred upon tho Board authority “to compose all conflicts threatening Ifhe industrial peace -of the nation.” He also ''gave the Board definite authority to create regional Boards, and its own powers. The step is seen to grow from the dispute between Labour Beard and the Meirton Steel Company (West Virginia) which despite', the. warning that it is vjolatjnp -the- labour provisions of tbo N-R.A., conducted 'Company union, elections.
