Sir Charles Kingsford Smith will fly the Southern Cross to New Zealand about the middle of January. The new monoplane, which is being built, gt Cockatoo. Dockyard .yyili not be',.- ready, then owing tp.m- -.in.- jthe delivery of;the engines, but, if the plane gives satisfactory results in the-tests, it will be flown to New Zealand later.
Smithy will pilot the Southern Cross and Captain Taylor will be navigator. The new monoplane will be flown by Mr Trevor White with Mr Bennett as navigator.
£IOOO GRANT FOR ULM
SYDNEY, December 17
The Australian Commonwealth Government is making a gift of £IOOO to Mr C. T. P. Ulm for his services to aviation.
