(J 1 Duffy and 'other leaders always struck an emphatic note in regard to law and order, and-obedience to the constituted authorities. Every democratic county recognises that tiie opposition plays a useful part in public affairs.
The arrest of O’Duffy has introduced a startling departure from accepted methods of political controversy, and will demand a strict account from the authorities for their action. CJL’Dutfy’s arrest caused a sensation in political circles in Dubin, which expect his removal .. to the Arbour Hill barracks, where Cronin awaits trial on December 21. O’Duffy may spend Christmas in custody, as only two clear days are left for the military tribunal to sit before Decern* ber 25. Mr Oosgrave will preside at a meeting of the United Ireland Party today to consider measures for testing the legality of O’Duff’s arrest.

. Three armed masked men entered the Dublin-Iverry train and held up the guard. They seized copies of the “Irish Press,” Mr de Valera’s newspaper, ancl dumped them on the line six miles distant.
