GISBORNE, December 10.

Reporting to tlie district railway committee at the request of the Minister of Public Works, Mr G. Thorton, District Engineer, estimates the cost of completion of the East Coast line, Wa/kokopu to Gisborne, at slightly in excess of a million. A detailed report covers the amount of work completed prior to the abandonment of quantities, and value of material now on the route and cost of completion under present-day conditions, also plans and statistical matter of value to private capital likely to be interested in the completion of the line.
