IN ANTARCTICA
ELLSWORTH’S PROGRESS.
Special to Press Assn. from Wyatt Earp, dated December 14.
WELLINGTON, December 15
Mr Ellsworth says lie wa s thrilled by the first contact with the Antarctic, when the Earp passed between two icebergs. Old hands consider the ship is having a remarkably fine passage, but when Balchen’s plate, loaded with pork, potatoes, peas and '.gravy suddenly catapulted off the table opposite and struck Ellsworth in the chest, lie was unable to agree. Having sighted icebergs, they wonder if the pack ice is far off. If they meet it too early it means a long delay in getting through. The expedition lias not too much time, as they must leave the barrier before the end of February, or get frozen in.
