At a meeting of the Canterbury Ed- ] ucation Board on Wednesday, Mr j Thompson , discussed the (Gover- * ment’s proposal to extend the life of 1 school committees to two years. He j expressed the opinion that it was difficult enough at present to maintain householders’ interest- in annual elections and that it would he even, more difficult if they were held at twoyearly intervals. He suggested that the elections should be held annually and that half the committee should retire. each year, so that every member should have two years in office. It was decided to send a telegram containing this proposal to the Minister for Education.
