HATTERS FLAT COMPANY.
The secretary of the Haters FlatMining Company, Ltd. (West Coast), reports that at a statutory meeting of the company Mr James A. Neilson occupied the chair. Outlining the work .done by the company, Mr Neilson stated that trie delivery of plant on the claim had been completed, with the exception of one pump. The Sauerman drags were working satisfactorily removing the overburden. Water races, dams, s imip, wash, and. gold-saving devices had been completed, .and it- was proposed to start the . claim working three •shifts.
The resident engineer was present ■at the ntecting, and outlined the development work already completed. Jt was hoped that by the middle cf February 25,000 yards of material would have been put over the boxes. The number of directors wer e fixed at- four, and Mr J. A. Neilson and Mr A. P. AUocy of. Dunedin, Captain €• J. Kerr, of Geraldine, and Mr J. Baxter, of Christchurich, were elected.

been installed, and it- had - given very satisfactory service. The greatest -loss of power at present wg6 through the
hydraulic elevator, r.nd it was proposed to instill a Pcl':on wheel .and a pump which would save both power 1 and water. The alterations proposed / were not as costly .as might be ex- * pected, and he conskiered that the results would justify the expenditure. It was considered that it would take five years to work down to the bottom end of the ,claim, and perhaps another seven to work back. This would give some idea of ’the" ''’amount of -work th°re was to he done. . A shareholder, .said that it had been generally understood- that the claim was oil.
